Daryl & Gene Druktenis
Santa Fe, New Mexico

They were already living a luxury life. Gene was earning one-half to two million dollars annually in his general contracting business. So why would Daryl join Primerica? “The number one reason,” she said, “was that it gave me the opportunity to help people with their finances.” She unknowingly had a Primerica policy (A.L.Williams) but had never been offered the business opportunity nor had an explanation of the difference between cash value and term insurance. When a friend brought a representative to her house and she saw what the free Financial Needs Analysis (FNA) could do for people, including her and Gene, she immediately joined the business. Yes, Gene and Daryl made lots of money through his business but they also spent it. Primerica gave them a savings mentality that helped them through the recent bottomed out economy.

For most of her married life, Daryl has been a homemaker and mother to their three sons, Sean, Lee and Jason, who are now adults. At one point she was self employed as a communications network marketing representative. Her biggest income in that business was $16,000 in one year. Her biggest income so far in Primerica is $75,000 in one month, the record in New Mexico where she is located. Daryl came into Primerica in April 1998, became an RVP in 2000; earned $200,000 by June 2003; and earned $300,000 in September 2005. She has about 100 representatives on her team.

DarylGene_Pic2In 2005, Daryl was SuperTeam MVP and has won many other SuperTeam awards as well as from the company – Women in Primerica; income award, national Field Cabinet and others. She was selected as a member of the advisory board for Women in Primerica. (Her photo and story are included on that web site.) Though she has been successful in the business, Daryl’s number one goal presently is to make a million dollars in Primerica so that Gene can retire from his business and they can focus on their church, Primerica and their six grandchildren.

Daryl and Gene’s current life is very different from their childhood experiences. She was born in Wisconsin but her mother packed up and moved with three children (Daryl, her twin sister and her brother) to a rural area of New Mexico when Daryl was nine. Daryl was the only Anglo in an all Spanish speaking school with four grades in one room. Her mother was primarily a homemaker and her stepfather was a traveling salesman. For Christmas, the family decorated the tree with paper chains and popcorn. They saved Green Stamps to buy gifts. After high school, Daryl worked for a radiation detection company but stopped working when she got married. Gene also grew up in a rural area of New Mexico with parents who were immigrants from Lithuania and grandparents who worked as dry land farmers. His parents bought the children shoes that were two sizes larger so they could wear them longer. Gene’s mother worked as a cook in a restaurant; his father drove a bread truck. Gene and Daryl met in 7th grade, got together after the Vietnam War in 1971 and married in December 1971.

DarylGene_Pic3The Druktenis’ have been in Christian ministry for 32 years, 25 of those as pastors of New Life Family Fellowship, a debt free, full gospel, non-denominational church which they founded. With their 250 members, Daryl and Gene have a huge mission outreach (primarily foreign missions); a recovery group for any addiction (state agencies have some individuals court ordered to be involved); a Wednesday night pre-service, free dinner open to anyone; and a neighborhood summer program, “Jungle Adventure,” for all ages of children and youth. Daryl is particularly sold on Primerica because of her deep faith and her belief that this is one of the few careers that can enhance your relationship with God and your family. She said, “People freely give God the glory for this opportunity. I wouldn’t be a part of anything else and wouldn’t be a part of Primerica otherwise.”

Other words of wisdom: Primerica is a great opportunity, especially for women to do something special with their lives and still fulfill their roles as wife and mother. It is very oriented to family and God and you are not required to compromise your principles. It’s spectacular!”
